God Saw Us in the Storm: True Missionary Shipwreck Miracle | My Lifeboat Story from Indonesia
Mika Yrjölä is a pastor, Bible teacher, and ministry leader…
What would you do if you were 11 years old, sitting in a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean, knowing that nobody knew where you were?
Mika Yrjölä grew up aboard the Gospel Ship Ebenezer, a missionary vessel that served communities across Southeast Asia. But in 1983, during a violent storm between Indonesia and Singapore, the ship began to sink—and Mika found himself in a lifeboat with his family and other crew members, with no rescue in sight.
As fear, exhaustion and uncertainty took over, an old Bible and the words of Psalm 34 became part of a moment that changed the direction of Mika’s life.
What followed would become more than a story of survival. It would shape a lifelong calling and lead to an extraordinary encounter that Mika believes revealed something about God’s care long before he knew what was happening.
Watch the full testimony and hear Mika Yrjölä tell the story of the storm, the lifeboat, the rescue and the God who sees.
